Description:
Coppermine Road runs parallel to the very best Cabernet vineyard in McLaren Vale, just metres from the winery, cellar door and restaurant. Planted to an almost extinct clone, this vineyard rarely yields greater than one tonne to the acre.
D'Arenberg have a mighty presence in McLaren Vale. Known for producing reds which endure, the 2010 Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viognier is one such wine. From an outstanding McLaren Vale vintage, this aromatic red is still going strong, with no sign of tiring. Garnet red with no browning. Medium to full bodied, full of flavour. Blackberries, black currant, earthy tannins, tar, leather and a long plume of pepper/spice on the finish. A little rustic in texture, quite robust. It builds in the mouth. A good drink. We suggest decanting for an hour. The peppery finish is a standout.
